Job description

The post holder will provide professional leadership for Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Support Workers across the Trust and be responsible for the development of safe, effective and innovative professional practice.

Responsibilities will include:

• Leading the development and implementation of professional standards, governance arrangements and competency frameworks for Pharmacy Technician practice.

• Supporting the development of advanced, specialist and extended scope roles, ensuring appropriate training, credentialing and professional oversight.

• Working with pharmacy teams and multidisciplinary colleagues to identify opportunities to optimise workforce utilisation and improve patient care.

• Providing expert professional advice on Pharmacy Technician practice, professional standards, workforce development and service transformation.

• Supporting the delivery of education, training, leadership development and career progression opportunities for Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Support Workers.

• Leading and supporting quality improvement, service development and transformation programmes across pharmacy services.

• Promoting a culture of professional accountability, innovation, continuous improvement and evidence-based practice.

• Contributing to medicines optimisation, medicines safety, operational productivity and sustainability initiatives across the Directorate.

• Developing effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including NHS organisations, professional bodies and system partners.

• Representing the Directorate on relevant Trust, regional and national groups, committees and networks.

• Providing direct leadership to designated staff and professional leadership to the wider Pharmacy Technician workforce.
