Cookie Policy
Last updated: 9 June 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how PharmSee (pharmsee.co.uk) uses cookies and similar technologies. It is a companion to our Privacy Policy and should be read together with it.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser when you visit. Cookies allow the site to remember you (or remember something about your visit) for a set period. Similar technologies include local storage and pixel tags — this policy covers all of them collectively as "cookies".
2. Categories of cookies we use
PharmSee uses cookies in three categories. Only strictly-necessary cookies are set automatically. Analytics and advertising cookies are only set after you click "Accept" on our cookie banner. If you decline, those services are never loaded for your session.
3. Cookies in detail
Strictly necessary
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
pharmsee_consent | PharmSee (first party) | Records your cookie-consent choice so we don't show the banner on every page | 12 months |
Analytics — loaded only with consent
If you click "Accept all" on our consent banner, we load Google Analytics 4, which sets:
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Ireland Limited | Distinguishes unique users for aggregate analytics | 2 years |
_ga_XPMSPTENEH | Google Ireland Limited | Persists session state for GA4 property | 2 years |
IP addresses are anonymised by Google before storage. We use the data only in aggregate, to understand which articles and pages are useful so we can improve them. We do not use GA4 audiences, remarketing or user-ID stitching.
Advertising — loaded only with consent
If you click "Accept all" on our consent banner, we load Google AdSense, which (with its partners) may set:
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
__gads | Google Ireland Limited | Ad measurement and frequency capping | 13 months |
__gpi | Google Ireland Limited | Anti-fraud and ad-personalisation signal | 13 months |
IDE / NID | Google Ireland Limited (doubleclick.net / google.com) | Ad serving, measurement, optionally personalisation | up to 13 months |
As an AdSense publisher we comply with the Google EU User Consent Policy. If you do not separately consent to personalised advertising in Google's own consent flow, AdSense serves only non-personalised ads (NPA), which still use the cookies above for measurement and fraud prevention but do not build an advertising profile of you. Full detail on how Google uses cookies for advertising is at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
4. Managing your preferences
You can change your cookie choice at any time:
You can also manage cookies directly in your browser settings — instructions vary by browser:
You can opt out of Google's personalised advertising across the web at adssettings.google.com, and disable Google Analytics across all sites by installing the browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
5. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. There is no universally agreed standard for how websites should respond, and we do not currently change behaviour based on DNT. We rely instead on the explicit consent banner described above, which gives you a clear opt-in / opt-out choice.
6. Updates
If we change the cookies we use, this policy will be updated and the "Last updated" date at the top of the page will change. For material changes affecting non-essential cookies, your consent will be re-requested.
7. Contact
For any cookie or privacy question, email [email protected]. See also our Privacy Policy, Terms of Use and Data Sources.
