Job description
Responsibilities:-
Process repeat prescriptions
from patients, meds management, emails and EMIS patient access.
Print repeat prescriptions and
put into Dr tray for signing.
Collate signed prescriptions to go
to dispensary action box, in date order.
Hand out repeat medication to
patient at hatch, remembering to check patients name and address are
correct.
Resolve patient queries in
person and on the telephone.
Take accurate cash or card
payment from patient for prescription fee. Cash up and check float twice a
day and report takings to Practice Manager.
Ensure that each prescription
has been correctly signed and dated with the correct box ticked if the
patient is claiming exemption.
Assist with the incoming order
from wholesaler(s) and store items accurately in dispensary.
Outside agency paperwork to be
copied, filed and distributed in relevant envelopes to company.
Wardles/NWOS
orders ring to order prescription request, file in dispensary awaiting
orders; on delivery, match up order and items and pass to relevant department
ie P/N, D/N or patient.
Copy paperwork and send to relevant company.
File
dispensed medication on shelves to await patient
collection. Check shelves for out of date
/uncollected medication, remove if necessary.
Complete
other tasks as requested by Doctors, nurses or Practice Manager.
Dispensing:
dispense meds prescribed by GP/Nurse, this includes repeat prescriptions,
acutes and automatics, as per SOPS. Re-order any required
medication from suppliers and completing any CD forms or specials forms as
required.
Stock
control: order any meds required/needed in dispensary. Fill shelves at end of day. Check expiry
dates, replenish dispensary bags.

relation to their health and other matters.
They do so in confidence and have the right to expect that staff will
respect their privacy and act appropriately.

outlined in this Job Description the post-holder may have access to
confidential information to patients and their carers, practice staff and
other healthcare workers. They may
also have access to information relating to the practice as a business
organisation. All such information
from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential.
Information relating to patients,
carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the practice
may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with practice
policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of
personal and sensitive data. No
patient data may be released without the signed consent of the patient.

the practice Health and Safety policy.
