Job Summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a registered, ambitious, self-motivated Pharmacy Technician to join the Medicines Management and Pharmacy Services (MMPS) team at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals in our Clinical Trials department. This role is offered on a 12-month fixed term basis and will involve participating in the evening, weekend and Bank Holiday rotas.

As part of our dedicated Clinical Trials dispensary team, you will work alongside other technicians, pharmacists, pharmacy assistants and apprentices. Working according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) principles you will undertake a range of activities including the receipt, quarantine, dispensing, checking, and disposal of Investigational Medicinal Products (IMPs). You will also be responsible for co-ordinating the day-to-day operational workflow within the Clinical Trials dispensary, ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant management of clinical trials to support the delivery of research across the Trust.

You will act as a key point of contact for Clinical Research Associates, investigators and research staff, supporting the set-up, delivery and maintenance of a diverse portfolio of clinical trials. You will contribute to the development of the technical Clinical Trials Pharmacy service, ensuring it continues to meet the needs of patients and researchers.

This role will be based at St. James's University Hospital but flexibility to cover the Clinical Trials pharmacy service at Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) and Chapel Allerton Hospital is required. Why you should join our Team Leeds Teaching Hospitals is one of the largest and most research-active NHS Trusts. We are involved in research at all levels, developing and trialling new treatments for patients, and believe that being involved in cutting-edge research helps us to provide a better standard of care.

Our team plays a key role bringing innovative treatments to patients, managing the simplest to the most complex conditions and diseases, undertaking early-phase studies through to advanced therapies that are transforming care.

We’re proud to foster a friendly, supportive and ambitious culture where colleagues are encouraged to develop, learn and grow. Whether you're looking to build specialist expertise, broaden your experience or take the next step in your career, you'll be supported through training, development opportunities and exposure to some of the most innovative work taking place in the NHS.

We are committed to delivering a high-quality service and providing the very best standard of care for patients therefore recruiting the best talent to fulfil this role is very important to us.

What you will bring to the role

• Have an understanding of the importance and value of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

• Flexibility to work across all three Clinical Trials sites: St. James's University Hospital, Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) and Chapel Allerton Hospital.

• Be willing to complete weekend, evening and Bank Holiday shifts on a rotational basis in our inpatient dispensaries.
