Job description

Job responsibilities:

• Process repeat prescription requests on a daily basis received via online services, the NHS App, written requests and any other approved methods.

• Ensure prescription requests are accurately recorded and processed for GP signature in accordance with practice procedures and in line with agreed timescales.

• Ensure prescription-related records and documentation are accurately maintained.

• Deal appropriately with urgent prescription requests in accordance with practice policy.

• Liaise with patients, pharmacies and other health care professionals by email, phone or in person responding to and actioning queries and requests

• Action and make the necessary medication changes directed by clinical correspondence in line with practice protocols

• Ensure all required monitoring is up to date for patients requesting medication

• Be the main point of contact for all prescription queries from a range of healthcare professionals including GPs, pharmacists, local pharmacies, nursing homes, community staff, reception, admin)

• Assist the broader admin team as required with a range of administrative tasks commensurate with the role

The post-holder will assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others health, safety and security as defined in the practice Health & Safety Policy, to include:

• Using personal security systems within the workplace according to practice guidelines

• Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks

• Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills

• To co-operate in maintaining their place of work in a tidy and safe condition.

• Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards.

• Reporting potential risks identified.

• Assist with the training of new staff as required.
