• Provide high-quality, safe and effective consultant-led care to patients on the General Medical Ward.

• Take responsibility for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management of patients under General Medicine.

• Coordinate safe and timely discharge planning and ensure appropriate follow-up arrangements are in place.

• Work collaboratively with colleagues across hospital specialties and community services where required.

• Maintain high standards of clinical documentation, communication and handover.

• Contribute to clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.

• Support teaching, training and professional development of junior medical staff and the wider team.

• Ensure practice is consistent with relevant professional standards, clinical guidelines and local policies.
