Job description
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
•
Process repeat and acute prescriptions in a timely and accurate manner
•
Dispense medications in accordance with prescriptions, standard operating procedures and legal requirements
•
Ensure all medications are correctly labelled and checked prior to issue
•
Liaise with GPs and other clinicians regarding prescription queries or discrepancies
•
Provide a professional and courteous service to patients, responding to queries and requests appropriately
•
Manage and prioritise workload to ensure safe and efficient dispensing
•
Maintain accurate records and ensure confidentiality is upheld at all times
•
Support stock control, including ordering, receipt, storage and rotation of medications
•
Ensure the dispensary is kept clean, organised and compliant with health and safety standards
•
Identify and report any dispensing errors, incidents or near misses in line with practice procedures
•
Participate in audits and support quality improvement within the dispensary
Team Working:
•
Work collaboratively with the dispensary, reception and clinical teams
•
Support colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment
•
Communicate effectively with all members of staff to ensure continuity of service
Confidentiality:
•
Maintain strict confidentiality in relation to patient and practice information at all times
•
Comply with GDPR and data protection requirements
Health & Safety:
•
Adhere to practice health and safety policies
•
Ensure safe handling and storage of medications
•
Report any risks, incidents or concerns promptly

•
Act in a way that recognises the importance of peoples rights, interpreting them in a way that is consistent with practice procedures and policies
•
Respect the privacy, dignity, needs and beliefs of patients, carers and colleagues
Training and Development:
•
