Job description
• The post holder will undertake a two-year apprenticeship programme, combining practical training with study to achieve the Level 3 Pharmacy Technician qualification, including Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English (if required).
• Under the supervision of registered Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists, the apprentice will gain experience across all areas of hospital pharmacy, including medicines receipt, storage, distribution, and dispensing.
• Duties include maintaining stock control, assisting with ordering, environmental monitoring, and supporting safe disposal of medicines.
• The apprentice will learn to dispense prescriptions accurately, use pharmacy IT systems, and support medicines management activities on wards.
• All work will follow Standard Operating Procedures, Good Distribution Practice, and Health and Safety regulations.
• Successful completion enables registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
