The two branches sit approximately 0.17 miles apart, making them the closest operating Boots pair in PharmSee's 14-city branch-level audit.

Why this matters

Across PharmSee's 14-city Boots estate analysis, branches with a within-0.5-mile sister branch have historically been more likely to show no dispensing activity in recent NHSBSA quarters — consistent with estate consolidation where overlapping catchments are rationalised to a single site. Cities where no such pairs exist, such as Dudley and Bristol, have recorded zero register changes among Boots contractor codes.

Leicester's FKX65–FN210 pair appeared to be a candidate for this pattern. Instead, both branches remain active — and the revenue asymmetry between them is among the most pronounced PharmSee has recorded.

The numbers

FKX65 generates approximately 21.7 times the dispensing revenue of FN210. The revenue gap — over £1.1 million — is the widest between any operating Boots sister-pair PharmSee has measured.

Leicester LE1 in context

The broader Leicester LE1 5WW 3-mile catchment contains 99 pharmacies and 115 GP practices, producing a GP-to-pharmacy ratio of approximately 1.16:1. Boots operates eight contractor codes within the ring: seven with recorded dispensing activity and one (FFL52, LE5 4BP) with no items in the most recent NHSBSA quarter — a figure that may reflect data-reporting lag rather than permanent cessation.

Excluding FKX65, Leicester's remaining six operating Boots branches average approximately £90,914 in annual dispensing revenue — a mid-range figure in PharmSee's atlas, comparable to Sheffield and Nottingham.

Dual-format shopping-centre economics

One possible explanation for the sister-pair's joint survival is that FKX65 and FN210 serve different retail formats.
